Q. What are your hours?

A. We are open 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday, and 10am to 6pm on Saturday. We are closed on Sunday.

Q. Do you have a layaway program?

A. Yes we do. Our layaway program is very straight forward: 25% down payment and 60 days to pick up your merchandise. No payments, no interest. If you choose to cancel your layaway before the 60 day deadline, you will get back 80% of what you have paid. We keep 20% as a restocking fee. If you don’t cancel or pick up your layaway by the 60 day deadline we keep all of the money you have paid and the items are returned to the floor for sale. Occasionally, we have items that require a 50% down payment. Computers, some video game systems, high-value or rare items and custom-order guns require a 50% down payment. We sometimes allow extensions on layaways for an additional 30 days, or 90 days total. Extensions depend on the item, how much and how often you have paid.

Q. If I come in to get a pawn, how long does it take?

A. If the items you bring to pledge are easy to value, the whole transaction will usually take ten minutes or less. Guns, jewelry, especially a lot of different pieces, and some electronics may take longer.

Q. Do I need anything besides an item to pledge to get a pawn?

A. Yes, along with your item you will need a state-issued picture ID or driver's license. If you have never done a pawn at TC Pawn World you cannot use a military ID, passport, sheriff’s ID, work ID, student ID or any other kind of ID to do your FIRST pawn only. If you're information is in our computer system and is up-to-date then you may use almost any picture ID to conduct business.

Q. How long do I have to repay my pawn?

A. Your pawn can be repaid anytime in the first 30 day period for the amount loaned plus the 25% interest fee. If you cannot pay it off in 30 days you can pay the interest charge and extend it for another 30 day period. Your pawn can be extended for as long as necessary, but never for any longer than 30 days. After making 3 interest payments at 25% per 30 days, your interest rate drops to 12.5% per 30 days and maintains that rate until you redeem your items. You can also pay on your principal to reduce your pawn amount and get your items out faster. Principal payments can be applied as long as all your interest charges are current.

Q. What happens if I can’t repay my pawn in 30 days?

A. If you do not intend to repay the pawn, we will put your item out for sale after the 30 day period and you owe us nothing. If you would like to keep your merchandise you can pay the interest fee and extend your loan for another 30 day period.

Q. Is the information about my pawn secure and confidential?

A. Yes. Federal, State and local law regulates the privacy of your transactions and we have procedures in place to safeguard your information. However, we are required to report all pawn transactions to law enforcement, which we do electronically, to protect against property crimes and unauthorized pawns.

Q. What type of items do you take in pawn?

A. Practically any item that can be valued and stored, however the most common items offered for pawn are fine jewelry, consumer electronics, quality tools, musical instruments, video games, sporting goods, and scrap gold. Click here for more detailed descriptions of the items we pawn and buy.

Q. Can I pawn my car title?

A. Yes, as long as you have a clear Georgia title, full coverage insurance, an extra set of keys, proof of residence (current utility bills), and proof of income (current pay check stubs).  If your vehicle is 10 years old or older we have to keep the vehicle on premise. DOD regulations do not allow us to do title pawns for military personnel or their family members.

Q. Can I have someone else pick up my pawn?

A. No. Only the person on the pawn ticket may pick up the item. However, you may add someone to your pawn as long as you come to the pawn shop and add another person's name to your account. That person will have to have a valid ID. If you cannot come in then the person wanting to pick up your pawn must have current and valid power of attorney. You cannot add another person to your account over the phone. EVER. Guns can only be picked up by the original pawner. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Q. What do I do if I lose my pawn ticket?

A. You can pick up your pawn with your picture ID.

Q. Do you take firearms in pawn?

A. Absolutely! We pawn rifles, shotguns, black powder weapons, derringers, revolvers and semi-auto pistols. We also offer a wide variety of new guns of all types. If you are looking for a specific gun, and we don’t have it in stock, we can custom order almost any gun from nearly every manufacturer. It is necessary for us to conduct a NICS Federal background check when you pick up your pawned weapon. This will take some additional time and could take 30 days or longer before we can release your firearm to you. We do not run background checks when you pawn your weapon. It is your responsibility to know if you have any criminal or mental history that would make you ineligible to own a firearm. You must be approved by NICS before we will release your weapon. The same rules apply to persons purchasing any type of firearm, including antiques and black powder.

Q. Will you contact me if I am late in paying my pawn?

A. We respect our customer’s privacy and will not write or telephone our clients for any reason. It is up to the customer to remember to pay on their pawn. We have been in business for almost 20 years and we are glad to help people who can't come in by their due date. Georgia law provides a 10 hold period after the expiration of a pawn. This is sometimes called a grace period. We will hold your item for 10 days after the initial 30 day period expires. However, on the 31st day another interest charge will occur. You will be responsible for the entire service charge, even if you are 1 day late. If you call us and give us a reasonable date that you will be able to pay or pick up your item we will try to hold your item until then, but the interest charges still occur.

Q. I already have a pawn with T&C Pawn. Can I get another?

A. You are welcome to have as many pawns with us as is necessary for your situation. You are also welcome to borrow money at T&C Pawn if you have chosen to not repay previous pawns with us. You can pawn as many items as you like at any given time. However, if you pawn 5 items on one pawn ticket then you must pick up all of the items at once. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you bring in 5 items and want them on 5 different tickets, or any combination of tickets, we will be glad to help.

Q. I want to pawn *insert item name here* but do not know what its worth. Can you help?

A. Yes. Our employees have years of experience determining the pawn value of a wide variety of merchandise. We want to be able to loan you the money you need, when you need it. We always offer top dollar for your items. If we offer you $100 on an item, and you only need $50, only take as much as you need. If for some reason you need the remaining $50 you can come back and increase your pawn to the maximum of $100. However, we can only do this within the first week after the pawn and will only increase the pawn amount once.

Q. If I pawn an item, am I guaranteed to get it back when I repay my pawn?

A. Yes. We are bound by State Statute to carefully and responsibly care for your merchandise while in our possession. Your items are safer in pawn than they are in your own home. If your item is somehow lost or damaged we will repair or replace the item as soon as possible with no additional cost to you. You would only owe us the normal pawn amount.

Q. Can I just sell my item instead of pawning it?

A. Yes. We will purchase most items outright, if that is what you intend to do. It would of course need to be something that has value and could be resold by us. If you sell your item outright you cannot pick it up. You will have to pay the price that we set on the floor.

Q. Why can’t I borrow what my item is appraised for?

A. Pawn amounts are based on current values and market conditions for merchandise. Appraisals are based on retail or replacement costs and are generally used for insurance purposes. We know that we aren't loaning you what your item cost new or what you paid for it. We always try to base pawn loans on fair market value. Your account history is another factor we consider when pawning an item. If you have pawned an item several times and picked it up every time we may give a little more than normal. Along the same line, if you always pick up your pawns and you have an item we normally wouldn't take we might give you a loan since your history is very good. Vice versa, if you never pick up your pawns, we might give less on an item than we normally would.

Q. Okay….I’ve got to ask….what about stolen goods?

Pawnshops are a business just like any other. But unlike many other businesses, pawnshops have a special set of laws that keep them on the straight and narrow. Pawnshops are specially licensed and cooperate with police to prevent the movement of stolen merchandise. When you pawn an item at T&C, we record the information from your ID and your phone number. All items are inspected for signs of theft. If the item is supposed to have a serial number but doesn't we will not accept the item. If the item has someone else's name, or picture, on it we will not accept it. If an item appears damaged, like a car cd player that is bent from being ripped out of someone's dash, we will not accept it. We do not accept items that are marked as property of a rent to own company. If we accept an item it is given a detailed description. We report all pawns and buys to the Camden County Sheriff's Office. They compare the items received at TC Pawn World with the items that have been reported stolen. If you bring in a stolen item we will prosecute to the fullest extent the law allows. Quite simply, it’s in everyone’s best interest to keep stolen goods OUT of pawn shops!Unlike someone running a garage sale or a booth at a flea market, T&C Pawn is a stable business in the community and we keep a close eye on our reputation. We cannot sell junk or stolen items and stay in business!

If your items are stolen, file a police report IMMEDIATELY! Call us after you file the report and let us know what was stolen. We always appreciate a heads up on stolen goods, especially if you have the serial number or an identifying mark that will help us distinguish your item. Remember, there are MILLIONS of items that are identical. If we end up with your stolen merchandise we CANNOT tell you. We are bound by law to keep all pawn information confidential. If you think an item of yours has ended up in our store call the officer who you talked to when you reported the item stolen. We can give them all the information regarding the pawn. Contrary to popular belief, we will not release your merchandise to you without restitution. Normally, this means your item will be held until trial and we are rewarded a settlement by the court. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.

Q. Do you offer a warranty on items that you sale?

A. All items purchased at T&C Pawn come with a warranty, except car audio. All returns need to be accompanied by the original sales receipt. Please read our Warranty Section below for more details.
